Company
We trace our lineage back to 1903 to the formation of Geneva Employment Agency. First located downtown near the docks and shipyards, we then moved to what was then uptown, 14th Street in Manhattan. There we flourished, joining other full service and specialty employment agencies forming an Employment Center.
In the 1980s two events occurred. First, we expanded our employment services to include a temporary service, and secondly, we organized a division that offered interpreting and translating services.
Over the years, many of the applicants looking for employment were foreign born highly educated and fluent in English as well as their native language. Initially, we only offered our translation services to our existing client base and only for those languages that were popular within the Metropolitan area of New York City and surrounding counties. Given the demographics of New York City, our interpreting and translation business boomed. In 1986 we began to bid on government contracts offering our services to all levels of government.
The company has been led by a member of the Buckstein family for almost 50 years. The current President of Geneva Worldwide is Joel Buckstein.
As President of Geneva Worldwide for over 20 years, I have watched with pride the continuous growth of our Interpreting & Translations business. I have personally directed our efforts, committing our company to quality and timeliness in the products produced and the services provided. The evolution from simply translating documents to the wide array of interpreting and translating services we now offer not only to private industry, but to local, state, federal agencies, have given me a feeling of accomplishment.
We have been awarded and have successfully completed many government contracts. Anything less than 100% performance in the fulfillment of our contractual obligations is unacceptable. My dedicated staff similarly subscribes to my performance goals and this is reflected in their demeanor and professionalism in carrying out their duties.
Our interpreters and translators are located worldwide and are therefore conveniently located to where the services will be provided. Our motto reflects our formula for success: “Mutual Understanding is the Foundation of Pleasant Business Relations.”
