Geneva Worldwide

Interpretation

Geneva Worldwide provides businesses (large and small), governments, medical facilities, educational institutions, legal offices, non-profits and individuals with a full spectrum of language services in over 200 spoken languages and American Sign Language.

We can quickly deliver consecutive and simultaneous interpretation to locations worldwide, in a broad range of subjects and technical fields. Interpreting and translating are highly demanding services that require a linguist to convert both words and overarching meanings, often with tight deadlines. In addition to having linguistic expertise and vast knowledge of the subject matter at hand, an interpreter or translator must possess a thorough understanding of cultural references in order to appropriately communicate to a specific target audience.

Organizations that either opt to or are mandated to provide access to their services, regardless of language, find translations services to be an essential part of efficient communication. Additionally, investing in translation is likely to expand your business into new markets, develop stronger customer loyalty and increase revenue.

In-Person Interpreting

Geneva Worldwide offers both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting services. Our in-person interpreting is designed for those circumstances where nothing can replace the individualized, personal attention, provided by in-person interpretation.

In consecutive interpretation the speaker talks while the interpreter listens. The speaker then pauses while the interpreter delivers the interpretation in blocks of words or sentences.

In simultaneous interpretation, the linguist interprets while the speaker is talking which differs from consecutive interpretation because there are no long pauses in the flow of conversation. Oftentimes a simultaneous interpreter will sit in a sound-proof booth to interpret in real-time while listeners are wearing headphones. Sometimes referred to as U.N. style interpretation, this service requires trained interpreters and specialized equipment, all of which can be provided by Geneva Worldwide.

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) INTERPRETING

Geneva Worldwide provides nationally certified language interpreters to organizations and businesses that have interactions with individuals who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

From seminars, concerts, medical appointments, and court hearings to parent-teacher conferences and religious functions, Geneva Worldwide provides sign language interpretation services across the United States both in-person and through remote video.

Telephonic or Over-the-phone Interpreting (OPI) (phone-Interpreting)

Over-the-phone services are ideal when a professional in-person interpreter is not available or needed without notice to secure a live interpreter. It eliminates the risk of miscommunication and liability concerns should an inaccurate interpretation take place. Depending on the circumstance, cultural norms, or religious background, an individual may prefer to not have another person present in the room. Health conditions or legal issues can make one feel self-conscious, embarrassed or exposed. In these situations, the patient or client’s preference to be anonymous is taken into consideration.

Geneva Worldwide telephone interpreting gives you access to a global network of highly qualified and professional interpreters, even on short notice, on demand, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether you are in a remote location, have a rushed or last-minute language emergency, or just want to save time in a meeting; telephonic interpreting can meet your language needs in just a few simple steps.

Geneva Worldwide can also provide telephonic interpreting services during extended or after-business hours.

Video Remote Interpreting

Geneva Worldwide’s Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) is ideal for those who do not have the time or budget to schedule an on-site interpreter. Utilizing this service will enable communication with patients or clients with limited English proficiency or who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing when an interpreter is not physically present.

VRI provides on-demand interpretation via a secured HD video connection on your phone or any other compatible device. To guarantee that your VRI session runs smoothly, we have an onsite VRI studio in our New York headquarters where we provide troubleshooting for any equipment malfunctions and project managers to oversee each session. We have the capability to set you up with 24-hour service with an experienced linguist that meets your specifications.

Our VRI technology is HIPAA-compliant and cloud-based and comes with a user-friendly interface so office staff can quickly set-up the remote appointment(s). This ease of availability is especially important under unexpected or emergency circumstances.

During VRI appointments, the interpretation occurs consecutively. Consecutive interpretation is when the interpreter listens to what is said before converting to the target language. This interpreting method is best suited for one-on-one or smaller groups because of the stop-and-go flow of conversation.
